About this tour
Venice’s glassmakers were moved to the island of Murano in the late 13th century, partly to protect the city from fire. Their craft became famous across Europe, and many furnaces are still working today.
This tour takes you across the lagoon to discover how Murano glass is made, from molten sand to delicate vases and chandeliers. Then explore the island’s canals and colourful houses at a slower pace than central Venice.
